LSU Football Team Goes Back to Work

BATON ROUGE -- With final exams behind them, the LSU football team will get back to work on Monday as the Tigers will begin their on-field preparations for its matchup against 14th-ranked Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta.

LSU and Georgia Tech will meet on Dec. 31 at 6:30 p.m. CST from the Georgia Dome. The game will be televised unopposed that night on ESPN. LSU goes into the game with a 7-5 overall mark, while the Yellow Jackets are 9-3.

The contest will be the first time the teams have met since the 2000 Chick-fil-A Bowl when Rohan Davey rallied LSU from a 14-3 halftime deficit to beat the Yellow Jackets, 28-14.

?We?re excited to get back on the field and start preparing for Georgia Tech,? LSU coach Les Miles said. ?The Chick-fil-A Bowl presents a great opportunity for our football team and we?re looking forward to the chance to play against one of the top teams in college football in Georgia Tech.?

The Tigers are scheduled to practice once a day starting on Monday, Dec. 15 running to Monday, Dec. 22.

Also on Monday, Miles, along with Georgia Tech coach Paul Johnson, will both take part in a joint press conference in Atlanta to promote the 41st annual Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Other events of note next week for the Tigers include commencement on the LSU campus on Thursday, Dec. 18 and the annual awards banquet on Sunday, Dec. 21 at the Holiday Inn Selection.

LSU is expected to have as many as 13 players receive their diploma on Thursday, and among that group are defensive end Tyson Jackson, offensive guard Herman Johnson and center Ryan Miller. It?s possible that when LSU tees it up against Georgia Tech in the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Dec. 31 that 13 members of its 19-player senior class will have earned their college degree.

The Tigers will break for Christmas following a morning practice session on Dec. 22. The team departs for the Chick-fil-A Bowl on Christmas Day with the first practice in Atlanta scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 26.
