BATON ROUGE LSU rediscovered the long ball Friday night and promptly made short work of Alabama. The Tigers got seven RBIs on two swings of the bat and eventually coasted to a 10-2 victory over the Tide in the opener of the SEC weekend series. Mason Katz hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the first to get the Tigers off to a good start and Austin Nola put the game away when his grand slam capped a six-run fourth inning. That was more than enough for starting pitcher Kevin Gausman (6-1) as the Tigers (28-7, 9-4 SEC) won for the 11th time in their last dozen games. Its that time of year in Alex Box (Stadium), said Nola, noting the gentle breeze blowing straight out. It felt good.
