Column: A Peak Inside The Saints' Appeal

As you may be aware, your New Orleans Saints were in New York on Thursday, hoping the coming Easter break found NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in good holiday cheer and perhaps feeling the forgiving spirit. They were there in the Big Apple to “appeal” Goodell’s stunning punishment in the embarrassing Bounty-gate case, most notably the year’s suspension for head coach Sean Payton, the eight-game time out for general manager Mickey Loomis, the six games for defensive line coach Joe Vitt and ... well, they were just fine with the indefinite ban of former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams, who is now the St. Louis Rams’ problem. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall for that meeting. These days being these days, however, there was a fly on the wall, and it was taking notes and it probably has a Twitter account. Thus we have this account of how it probably went:
