BATON ROUGE — Better check those watered-down bats. Lock up the gorillas, too. Suddenly LSU is swinging some potent aluminum — timely, too — and threatening to play home run derby again. The No. 12 Tigers unloaded on third-ranked Arkansas for 17 hits Friday night to beat the Razorbacks 10-6 in the Southeastern Conference series opener. “Who says Gorilla Ball is dead,” head coach Paul Mainieri chuckled after the Tigers knocked around the SEC’s top-rated pitching staff. LSU (20-6, 4-3 SEC), which hadn’t hit more than single home run in a game all year until getting two Wednesday against UL-Lafayette, knocked three out Friday night, including a pair in the third inning alone.
