Tigers Manage To Beat Michigan

by Scooter Hobbs

BATON ROUGE — Former Barbe High standout Jared Foster led off the bottom of LSU’s first inning with his first career home run and the Tigers got a starting pitcher through eight innings for the third straight game Saturday night. Otherwise, the Tigers struggled on a crisp night before finding a way to beat Michigan 6-4. “That was about the extent of what I was pleased with,” LSU coach Paul Maineri said. “We were not ready to play tonight and that’s my fault. “I could feel it during practice, the intensity just wasn’t there.” Michigan (6-9) out hit the 13-2 Tigers 11-7, but Ryan Eades pitched around most of them and struck out seven while giving up three solo home runs. “Overall, we didn’t have a lot of good at-bats,” Mainieri said. “We gave away a lot of at-bats, hit a lot of pop-ups and chased a lot of bad pitches.”
