LSU Baseball Lineup Has Just One (BIG) Hole To Fill

LSU’s batting order returns, as head coach Paul Mainieri said, “virtually intact.” But when the Tigers open the season Friday night against Air Force, it will still be shock to most fans’ system when Mikie Mahtook isn’t in centerfield. “He was one of the greatest players in LSU history,” Mainieri said. But Mahtook’s loss may not be all bad, the coach thinks. “Our team relied so much on Mikie ... not to say they stood around and watched him play, but there was a sense that ‘If I didn’t make the play, then Mikie will.’ “Now I think the team will have more of a feeling that they are all going to contribute.”
